Welcome to one of the 2 versions of this design (please refer to “Umbrella – Moodybloom“) for the other one), which was born amongst the exquisite, historic walls of Melbourne‘s legendary Abbottsford Convent.
With paint peeling from its walls, I was deeply drawn to how the rich and textured layers presented so vastly differently, depending on the way the natural light would pour into the diverse spaces over the days I spent there creating stencils & mono-prints with a gelli-plate onto tissue paper, which were then used as petals and leaves to form an artwork representing a flower.
As one of the final layers, golden ink drops were scattered with the help of my breath through a straw… the end result reminiscent of our sun’s rays.
